Why does it even need a shutdown sound? A startup sound makes some sense – you know the computer came up OK and there's nothing wrong with it; it's now ready to use.

But a shutdown sound? Surely you get enough feedback that the shutdown action is proceeding by the fact that everything is disappearing from the screen. I guess most people's Windows installations must be filled with so much rubbish that it takes so long you do need a sound to make it clear that yes, it is actually shutting down.

Whatever – I wish MS would just start Windows from scratch, lose the concepts that drag it backwards and make something built from the ground up for the 21st century. Heck, it might even be _good_.

But i expected nothing new but a more glassy interface. more stupid UI enhancements.... and now there is this MIND-boggling innovative technique they implemented to reduce shutdown time ... "chop off the shutdown wav file " *AMAZING*
